As you read the poems, more will be added to the different titles under The Journey. As I go through the stages of grief.  I am better and getting stronger everyday. Today May 3rd, 2012 I was able to write about the funeral. You will find a new poem under Tom's name. The title "It Was A Tom Carter Funeral"

The  Journey

The day started out like so many others

Breakfast, dishes, chores, feeding foals & mothers

The day was bright, sunny, & cool

Out of the wheat field we chased goats, & two mules

Dogs chasing rabbits through an old rusty pipe

Herds of wild hogs root up good pasture sometime last night

Down in the bottom land I see cows grazing

Trailing behind them is the new crop of calved they'll be raising

We start ridding the fences, & stringing hot wire

Traveling on  the four wheeler we puncture a tire

No  since getting mad over this

We'll  just start a new chore, to the garden & disk

Later that day we head  into to town

For seed, fertilizer,  and feed for the hounds

Old farmers setting & telling stories outside the feed store

Young boys loading our trucks & asking for one more

Back  to the home place, more work to be done

We  grab a bite, then make more rounds before the setting sun

Soon the time comes for the stock to be fed

But there are many more hours of work before we go to bed

Sleep  comes easy when you put in a hard day

And  it's that  good kind of work, I thank God for when I pray

Just another day like so many others

I  snuggle close to my husband under the covers

Little did I know this night would be my last

For late tomorrow my Chreished husband will pass.

I will always love you Tom Carter, Cheryl
